On September 25th we began a three-day staff retreat at the University of the Nations Kona campus. On the first day I had the opportunity to share the importance of knowing where we have come from as a ministry.
On September 14 we began the fall quarter staff training for those people leading schools at the University of the Nations Kona campus. It began with a time at King’s Mansion, a beautiful, quiet place about 10 miles north of the campus; a great facility for getting away from campus for a brief time.
On September 8th I had the opportunity to preach at our home church in Kona on having a Culture of Blessing.
Near the end of August I taught in two of their courses, one was a small beginners course and the other was a leadership workshop with over 90 participants. This campus is in a beautiful setting, surrounded by a forest just above a lake. We saw many deer while there.
The week of August 12-16 Judi and I together with Al and Carolyn Akimoff team-taught to over 60 students from all over the world on leadership principles in launching new works in various parts of the world. Judi joined me in Paris and we flew together to Switzerland to teach at a Leadership Training School for University of the Nations. Before we began the week, we went out for a fondue meal with our good friends Al and Carolyn Akimoff to celebrate our anniversary.
Following the West Africa Staff Conference, I came back through Paris for an event that reached out to all those attending or participating in the Olympics in Paris, France. From July 20-26 I spoke at our UofN West Africa Staff Conference in Dakar, Senegal. It was a joy to be back with so many of my friends that I have served with in West Africa. A trilingual conference with 162 participants, made for a very fun time. The meal times were quite lively.
In mid June I went to Maui to teach for a week in one of their University of the Nations courses. Though the group was small, the people were dynamic.
On June 1st we celebrated Dad Huffman’s 100th birthday. His actual birthday wasn’t until August, but June was when most of the family could get together, with children out of school.
